Quilt Auction

 Current High Bid: $75

After much anticipation, we present to you the QUILT!

This quilt was designed by Natalie. She picked out the fabric, arranged the pieces, and quilted each square. I sewed the quilted squares together. On the front, the fabric is cotton. On the back, it's cotton flannel.

The batting (the fluffy stuff in the middle of the fabric) is cotton, also. This quilt has been pre-washed to start the "rag" effect. The nature of cotton is to shrink a tad and get softer with each wash. The flannel is a bit "scraggly" looking after a long spin in the dryer, but is super soft and cuddly.

As you can tell, Natalie is all cuddly in it! Of course, as she said, something about flip-flops and being snuggled in a quilt don't go together! Maybe 99 degree weather isn't snuggle in a quilt weather, but wouldn't this make a fun picnic blanket, too? Even if it's a picnic in the living room! The quilt measures 45.5" wide by 52".

Natalie is auctioning this quilt to help raise her portion of money for summer camp. We are going to do this similar to other online auctions. The starting price for the quilt is $25 with free shipping (or local delivery). If you would like to bid on the quilt, please e-mail me directly at cheflag@satx.rr.com   As new bids arrive, I will post them on THIS blog post. We will keep this open until next Saturday night (June 4th). I will announce the winner on Sunday, June 5th. I'll mail it out that week. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment here or e-mail me.

PLEASE share this with anyone who might be interested or might know someone who is interested! Thank you!

Quilt Quick Pic & Clay

So sorry to have been MIA. Between colds & tummy issues, things have been rather interesting, to say the least! Now back to FUN STUFF!

We finished the quilt last week, but haven't had a chance to take good pictures yet. I did snap some quick shots tonight so I wanted to post those. The picture above is the front side of the quilt, the "raggy" side.
The picture below is the back side. It's made of flannel and is a bit nubby right now from the washing & drying process, but oh, so cozy.

Hopefully tomorrow we can get some GOOD pictures of the whole thing. I have been thinking we will sell this one auction style. I'll put all the details out when I get it together & post the info.
Finally, a few more things Natalie is working on. She has some orders in the works but decided to try some new things after checking out several library books on polymer clay. The flowery things are some she made in a "log" then sliced into pieces. (read: we have a lot of pink & purple beads! LOL!) If you click the pic you can enlarge it & see the Hershey's candy & the snow cone. Any guesses at what she's making to go with the chocolate?

Come back soon and we will get those pictures of the quilt up! Thanks!

Items Natalie is making

Our dear Natalie has been sick this week. First, her asthma kicked into high gear and she was coughing like a lung might fly out at any moment. Then, she developed a sinus infection. She's been on so many different steroid type meds (oral prednisone, albuterol in the nebulizer, and albuterol in her inhaler between nebulizer treatments) that sleep has been scarce. Of course, coughing all night doesn't help that.

In the meantime, she's been working on getting some more items ready to sell. We shipped off her first order yesterday! Woo-hoo! I don't have pictures, but I can tell you she is making roses for earrings and necklaces, tiny dice on earrings (no, she doesn't gamble, but loves board games!), pop tarts---oh, my word, just darling, sushi on a plate with chopsticks, and a breakfast plate! My favorite so far, though, is one she just looked at in silver at the store (a charm) and came home to create. Hers is WAY cuter. It's 2 Peas in a Pod! Great for a best friend set of necklaces. Seriously cute stuff. I hope to get pics up tomorrow.

We have the quilt cut out, but have not assembled it yet. Hopefully next week will find us feeling healthier & able to do that.

Natalie is more than happy to take orders for her clay jewelry. She also does paper quilling, which makes fun little embellishments for cards. Let us know if there is something specific you'd like to order for her to make.

Have a blessed weekend!
